TellEdit vs Descript
Short answer
Pick Descript if you want to edit yourself, with a full text-and-timeline editor, AI tools to speed it up, remote recording, dubbing and team features.
Pick TellEdit if you don’t want to edit at all: upload your footage, describe the video, and get it back finished, without learning an editor.

Where Descript is better
- Hands-on control: you can change any cut, word or frame yourself, in a full editor.
- More tools in one place: remote recording, Studio Sound audio clean-up, translation and dubbing, avatars and AI voices.
- Teams: live collaboration, comments, shared brand templates, and SOC 2 Type II compliance.
- It exports a timeline to Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, so an editor can take over. TellEdit exports the finished video only.
Where TellEdit is better
- You don’t edit. One sentence in, a finished, captioned video out, and changes are made by saying what to change.
- Two plain limits, edits and hours of footage, instead of media hours plus AI credits per seat.
- Only your footage: TellEdit never generates footage or adds stock clips. The one synthetic part, an AI voice-over, is opt-in.
- You can approve the plan before anything renders, and it reviews its own draft before you see it.
Trying TellEdit after Descript
Bring the raw recordings, not the Descript project. Upload them to TellEdit and write down, in a sentence or two, the edit you would have made, for example “cut the ums and the retake, add captions, 45 seconds, vertical.”
Watermark: No. On the Free plan, finished videos end with a short TellEdit logo by default; you can switch it off for any edit.
